The 26-year-old Mladenovic started her journey in the China Open with a straight-set win over Danielle Collins. Currently ranked No. 2 on the doubles circuit, the Frenchwoman, with that win, marked her first victory on the tour since the Zhengzhou Open.
She lost in the early rounds in Wuhan and Osaka, as she now seeks to improve those results in Beijing. But considering her season, on the whole, it is going to be a difficult task for her. Her best run came in the Italian Open where she lost in the quarterfinal to Maria Sakkari, after moving past the likes of Belinda Bencic and Ashleigh Barty.

Kvitova is going to start this match as the overwhelming favourite to win. She has been in a comparatively better form this year and Mladenovic will face all sorts of problems in trying to outsmart her opponent.
