Denis Shapovalov v Cedrik-Marcel Stebe Predictions & Preview

The two players are meeting on the tour for the first time in their career.

The tournament in Stockholm has proven to be a breakthrough one for the 29-year-old German, who has spent most of his season on the Challenger circuit and/or battling with early exits in the ATP events. Barring his run in the ATP Gstaad, where he reached his maiden singles final, Stebe has been highly inconsistent on the whole. Over here, he started as a qualifier and so far, has moved past the likes of Brayden Schnur and Mikael Ymer.

As for the Shapovalov, the 20-year-old Canadian prodigy is seeking his first singles title of the year. Following a sensational rise last year, this season has mostly seen the number four seed doing his best to build his form. With a bright future ahead of him, he has delivered on a few instances like reaching the semifinal in the Miami Open, ATP Winston-Salem, and ATP Chengdu.

In Stockholm, he enjoyed a bye into the second round and started off with a straight-set win over Alexei Popyrin.

Pablo Carreno Busta v Sam Querrey Predictions & Preview

The two gents have never met before on the ATP Tour.

Pablo Carreno Busta, having started as the number five seed in Stockholm, has so far knocked out the likes of John Millman and Gianluca Mager. The 28-year-old Spaniard made it to the quarterfinal on the back of these straight-set victories and is now looking to cap his second title of the season. He earlier won the Chengdu Open in a brilliant form and of late, he has been in a rather decent form. Apart from that, Carreno Busta also enjoyed a good spell in the Cincinnati Open, ATP Hamburg, and Antalya, where he reached the semifinal.

Sam Querrey, meanwhile, has delivered what is undoubtedly one of the most stunning upsets of the tournament. Following his straight-set win over Denis Novak in the opener, he defeated the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the second round in three sets. The American won the final set with a scintillating tie-breaker to reach the quarterfinal.

With a win-loss tally of 21-14, Querrey may not have been that active on the tour but whenever he has played, he has done a good job. He reached the semifinal on a few occasions, the quarterfinal in Wimbledon, and also bagged the runner-up feat in ATP Eastbourne.

Filip Krajinovic v Yoshihito Nishioka Predictions & Preview

This is the first meeting between the two players on the ATP Tour.

Krajinovic, with a strike-rate of 23-15 this season, is seeking his first singles final run since the ATP Budapest back in April this season. Currently ranked World No. 60, the Serbian has enjoyed a good run on multiple occasions, the most notable of which is the Indian Wells Open. With impressive victories over the likes of Daniil Medvedev and David Goffin, Krajinovic delivered the best run of his season. However, of late, he has been in a bad rut and is looking to break that jinx here in Stockholm.

With wins over Casper Ruud and Daniel Evans, he will now face the 24-year-old Japanese Nishioka, who himself has had a slow season. For the 24-year-old, the highlight of the year is undoubtedly his run in the Cincinnati Masters, where he reached the quarterfinal after knocking out Kei Nishikori. Now, he is in his second quarterfinal of the season, courtesy of his good wins over the number three seed Taylor Fritz and Radu Albot. Clearly, inconsistency has been an issue for Nishioka and it will be intriguing to see how he navigates that here in Stockholm.

Janko Tipsarevic v Yuichi Sugita Predictions & Preview

Tipsarevic holds a 1-0 lead over Sugita, last beating the Japanese in the 2017 Libema Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

Janko Tipsarevic, the veteran Serbian who was away from the tour for over two seasons, returned to action earlier this year. Currently ranked in the mid 200s, he has been playing mainly under a protected ranking. Considering his form, it has been understandably less than eventful with a few runs in the ATP and Challenger events. On nine out of 10 occasions, he fell right in the early rounds.

On the 10th occasion, however, which happens to be here in Stockholm, he has delivered a brilliant performance. In the second round, he knocked out the top seed, the veteran Italian Fabio Fognini with a sensational 6-1, 6-1 win. That win alone is enough to send shivers down the spine of any opponent.

Sugita, on the other hand, is playing in the main draw here by the virtue of lucky loser. He has spent a great deal of his time on the ATP circuit where he won a title and reached the final on one other occasion. He has made the most of the ticket he got into the main draw, with good wins over Elias Ymer and Stefano Travaglia.
