Latest ATP & WTA Rankings for October 21, 2019 – Bencic Climbs Three Spots, Ostapenko, Krajinovic Jump Several Ranks

The past week has been packed with action. Andy Murray won his first title since 2017, Belinda Bencic grabbed the final spot for the WTA Finals and Denis Shapovalov won his maiden ATP title in Stockholm. And all of these results have had an effect on the ATP and WTA Rankings.

The ATP rankings have registered no change in the Top 10 with the exception of Kei Nishikori who moved up one spot ranking at number 8. Andrey Rublev moved up nine spots after winning the Kremlin Cup.

Denis Shapovalov moves up seven spots after winning the Stockholm Open, now ranking within the Top 30 at 27. Filip Krajinovic moves up a staggering fourteen places after reaching the finals of the Stockholm Open, only to be defeated by Shapovalov.

Andy Murray, former world No.1, moved up an incredible one hundred sixteen places to rank in the Top 200. Murray clinched his first singles title at the European Open after returning to tennis from a hip resurfacing surgery.

American Bradley Klahn, broke the Top 100 after moving up five places after reaching the semi-finals at the Challenger Ningbo where he lost to Yasutaka Uchiyama who went on till the finals and moved up twenty-one, places to rank at 87.

In the WTA Rankings, there have been many changes. Bianca Andreescu, Simona Halep and Petra Kvitova all moved up by one place, ranking at 4, 5 and 6 respectively.

Belinda Bencic moved up three places after her qualification for the WTA Finals and subsequently winning the Kremlin Cup by defeating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who moved up by ten places on reaching the finals.

Kiki Bertens fell by two places and Elina Svitolina fell by four places ranking at 10 and 8 respectively. Meanwhile, Jelena Ostapenko won the Luxembourg Open, propelling forward by 19 places.

Kirsten Flipkens moved up by twenty-one places, Kaia Kanepi by twelve places, Anna Kalinskaya by six places and Lin Zhu by eleven places to rank under the Top 100.
