So far in Zhuhai, she has been on a roll as she qualified for the semifinal without any major difficulties. With two singles titles in from the St. Petersburg Open and Madrid Open (along with two runner-up trophies), it has been a year for the top seed to remember.

With a win-loss tally of 25-22, Saisai Zheng hasn’t had the best run on the tour this year. Currently ranked World No. 40, the best she has managed so far is winning the title in the San Jose Open, defeating Maria Sakkari and Aryna Sabalenka.
She has had a much better time as a doubles player, given that is currently a part of the top 30 there. The singles circuit hasn’t been too kind to her, with most of her matches ending in early exits from the tournaments.
But in Zhuhai, as a local favourite, she has managed to deliver exceptionally well. Despite winning just one match out of the two Madison Keys, Zheng has managed to qualify for the semifinal, courtesy of her 6-4, 6-2 win. Now, she is a prime favourite to win the tournament.

Expect Bertens to win this one comfortably. As good as Zheng may be, Bertens has been quite clinical here and it shouldn’t be a problem for her to win this.
