Gael Monfils v Radu Albot Head to Head

The pair have never met each other on tour. This will be the first meeting between the two.

Monfils Continues His Impressive Indoors Record

It has been an impressive year for the 33-year-old Frenchman without a lot to show in terms of titles except Rotterdam. He has reached four semifinals this year, including one at Montreal Masters, where he had to retire due to an ankle injury. He also had a strong showing at the US Open, where he bowed out in the quarter-finals against the Italian Matteo Berrettini in a marathon five-setter.

His form did suffer a little post the high of US Open. He failed to go past the opening two rounds in four tournaments after the Flushing Meadows. But he broke that streak by having a good run at Vienna last week. He reached the semifinals before losing to Diego Schwartzman. He is currently 10th in the race to London and will be hoping to have a solid run this week.

Three of his challengers for a spot in London finals, Roberto Bautista Agut, David Goffin, and Fabio Fognini fell early this week. This has given him an ideal opportunity to seal his spot.

Moldovan Having Another Solid Season

Earlier this year, Albot became the first player from Moldova to win an ATP title. He won the Delray Beach by beating Dan Evans of Great Britain. Apart from this landmark result, he has also reached the semifinals at Montepellier, Geneva, and Los Cabos.

This has resulted in him breaking into the top 50 in the world. Though his form has suffered in the second half of the season. In fact, Paris is the first occasion in the last nine tournaments he has played in, where he has managed to win two matches in the tournament.

This is his first time of reaching the main draw in Paris. He came through two impressive straight-sets victories in the first two rounds and is likely to gain enough ranking points this week to ensure that he ends the year in the top 50.

Gael Monfils v Radu Albot Predictions & Tips

Albot has a strong baseline game and the ability to trouble any player on his day. But he has been suffering from a terrible loss of form where he has a 6-8 record since his semifinal appearance at Los Cabos. Monfils, on the other hand, had got back into form after an impressive outing in Vienna last week.

The faster courts at Paris and the Frenchman’s 23-5 record at Indoor courts in the previous two years gives him an edge.
