Grigor Dimitrov v Christian Garin Head to Head

The pair have never met before. This will be the first match between the Bulgarian, currently ranked 27 in the world, and the Chilean, 15 places below him in the standings.

Dimitrov With an Impressive Victory over Thiem

Winner of the ATP finals in London two years ago, Dimitri has subsequently tumbled down the rankings due to a loss of form and consistency, falling from a career high of world number three to 68th in the standings on the eve of the US Open.

That was where he began to arrest the downward trend, fighting his way through to the semi-finals before losing to Daniil Medvedev.

Subsequent to that he reached the quarter-final in Chengdu, and, although he had disappointing results in Beijing, Stockholm and Vienna last week, he has already enjoyed his time in Paris on the court. Having beaten local favourite Ugo Humbert of France in the first round, he went on to beat the number 12 seed, David Goffin of Belgium in straight sets.

If that was a good win for the Bulgarian, even more impressive was his third round victory over the number five seed, Dominic Thiem on Thursday, dumping the Austrian out of the tournament for the loss of just five games.

Garin, Maiden Masters Quarter-Final

Garin has already enjoyed a breakthrough year on tour, reaching three finals, and winning two of them, in Houston, and Munich. Now to cap off an impressive 2019, he finds himself in the quarter-finals of a Masters event for the first time, never having been further than the third round before.

He has had to battle to get here, even if his first round victory over Pablo Cuevas was a relatively straightforward affair. However, his second round victory over John Isner, the number 15 seed, was anything but easy, and Garin had to survive a barrage of access from the big serving American to clinch the match.

In his third round match on Friday, Garin found himself in a toe-to-toe battle with local favourite, Jeremy Chardy, who had knocked out Daniil Medvedev in the previous round. Chardy, roared on by the local crowd, took the first set on a tie-break, only to drop his serve in the second set for Garin to level.  The third set was a tight affair which needed a tie-break to separate the two men. In the end, Garin secured a vital mini-break and then consolidated it to seal victory.

Dimitrov v Garin Predictions & Tips

Dimitrov is a strong favourite to win this match at 2/7, whilst Garin is priced at 3/1. Garin has played very well in Paris to get this far, but, just at the end of the season, Dimitrov is showing signs of the form that made him a top five player.
