Petra Kvitova v Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Head to Head

Kvitova and Pavlyuchenkova have met 11 times in their careers, but they haven’t played each other since Wuhan 2018. The Russian won that match in three sets.

In the 11 encounters Pavlyuchenkova has won four matches, with all of those wins coming on a hard court.

Kvitova Renowned for Slow Starts

Petra Kvitova played exceptionally well during the first half of the 2019 season and only an inspired performance by Naomi Osaka in the Australian Open final denied her the third Grand Slam title of her career.

Kvitova’s brilliant run to the championship match in Melbourne was as a result of her success in Sydney where she won the title by beating Angelique Kerber in the quarterfinal and then home favorite Ashleigh Barty in the final.

But it was the week before that at the Brisbane International where Kvitova struggled for match rhythm and was largely lethargic and ponderous. She narrowly escaped defeat against Danielle Collins in the first round, and had no guile to combat the power of Anett Kontaveit in the next round where she was knocked out in straight sets.

The Czech will return to Brisbane looking to make amends from the disappointment of slow start last year. But with a stacked field which includes six of the World’s top-10 players, her chances of adding her second title in the capital of Queensland appear very low.

Pavlyuchenkova Ended 2019 Season on a High

Anastasia Pavyluchenkova may have failed to add to her 12 career singles titles in 2019, she did end the season on a positive note with two runner-up finishes in Osaka at the Pan Pacific Open and Moscow at the Kremlin Cup respectively.

She ended the season ranked 31 in the world, a long way off from the dizzying heights of her career-best which was 13th in 2011. However, Pavlyuchenkova is now the top-ranked Russian in the WTA rankings.

Pavlyuchenkova is former finalist in Brisbane, having reached the championship match in 2013 where she lost to Serena Williams in straight sets. However, she hasn’t played at this tournament since 2016 where she made the last eight.

Petra Kvitova v Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Predictions & Tips

Kvitova is a massive favorite to pick up a win at 4/11, but she is the type of player that needs to hit more balls to find her groove. Expect this to be see-saw match with momentum swings and plenty of unforced errors as both players are renowned to take more risks rather than play a cautious game.

Tip: Over 20.5 games: 10/11 (Click here to get these odds with bet365)
