Kevin Anderson v Cristain Garin Predictions & Preview

Kevin Anderson plays Cristain Garin in what is a crucial encounter between South Africa and Chile in Group A.

While Serbia defeated South Africa 3-0, France won 2-1 against Chile in their openers. Although both Anderson and Garin lost their matches, Anderson will take heart from a very close match with Novak Djokovic, which the Serb won in two tie breaks.

On the other hand, the young Chilean Garin will be looking for a better showing after a straight sets loss to Gael Monfils of France.

After a strong 2018, that saw him rise up to the top five in the world rankings, 2019 was a year of injuries for Anderson, which resulted in a premature end to his season. It was a promising year for Garin who moved up the rankings and exhibited strong form and results especially on the clay.

In what will be the first meeting between the two players, expect it to be a battle between Anderson’s big serve and forehand, and Garin’s strong groundstrokes. If there was any concern around how match fit the South African is after an injury plagued 2019, that was put to rest by his spirited effort against Djokovic.

An interesting match on the cards between two varying playing styles; expect Anderson to win in three tight sets.

Benoit Paire v Dusan Lajovic Predictions & Preview

After winning their individual opening ties, France takes on Serbia for their second ties respectively in Group A.  While Novak Djokovic and Gael Monfils will feature in the clash of the top seeds, Benoit Paire meets Dusan Lajovic in the number two seed clash in this tie.

Both Paire and Lajovic have been on the tour for a considerable amount of time, but neither has managed to maintain a level of consistency in form and rankings that they are capable of.

On the positive side, both players won their opening ATP Cup matches with Paire defeating Nicolas Jarry of Chile and Lajovic defeating Lloyd Harris of South Africa.

2019 was a spirited year for both, with Paire moving back to the top 20 in the world rankings and winning his second and third career ATP titles. On the other hand, it was a career best finish for Lajovic at the ATP Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo where he was runner-up to Fabio Fognini.

Expect this match to be a clash between Lajovic’s more consistent all court-game and Paires’ brilliance interspersed with the unreliable player and individual that he is.

A keen and crucial contest on the cards, where we can expect the Frenchman to edge out a win in three sets.

Lloyd Harris v Nicolas Jarry Predictions & Preview

Both Lloyd Harris and Nicolas Jarry will be looking for their first wins at the 2020 ATP Cup as South African takes on Chile in Group A. While Jarry lost a close three-setter to Benoit Paire, Harris did the same against Dusan Lajovic.

Both Jarry and Harris have exhibited promise in recent seasons, and will be looking for more consistency and better results in the season to come.

Big serving Jarry has had a positive last couple seasons and moved up in the rankings, with his strong groundstrokes serving him well especially on clay. While Harris is relatively newer on the circuit, he displayed good form in the opening tie and is still best remembered for his showing against Roger Federer in the Wimbledon opener last season.

A good match-up on the cards, but expect Jarry’s relatively more experience to prevail in two close sets.

Tip: Jarry to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)

Roberto Bautista Agut v Martin Cuevas Predictions & Preview

In one of the more one-sided matches of Day 4 of the ATP Cup, Roberto Bautista Agut plays little known Martin Cuevas of Uruguay.

One of the favorites to win the tournament, spearheaded by Rafael Nadal and Agut, Spain was off to a strong start defeating Georgia 3-0 in the opening tie. On the other hand, Uruguay was handed a humiliating defeat by Japan 0-3.

With Agut having had a career best season in 2019, he will be looking to continue that into 2020 and seemed on track in his opener. Martin Cuevas was unable to provide much of a challenge to Soeda of Japan in his opening match.

It is difficult to foresee this being much of a challenge for Agut, and expect him to win comfortably in straight sets.

Tip: Agut to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
