Madison Keys v Samantha Stosur Predictions & Preview

This will be the fourth time that Keys and Stosur will be clashing in a competitive women’s match at the highest level and surprise, surprise, the Aussie Stosur has won each time. What’s not surprising is two of those wins came in 2013, when Stosur was in top form while Keys was only just starting out.

The third victory came in 2019, a result that was a bigger surprise, because it came in the middle of a horrid form slump for the Aussie. It came in Miami Open’s second round where she then lost in the third. That followed a string of four successive defeats and it wasn’t until late in the season in Guangzhou she did anything of note.

Keys won a couple of titles last season, winning 29 and losing 15 matches. The second of those wins, at Cincinnati, was followed by a fourth round appearance at the US Open before early defeats at Osaka and Beijing in 2019. She started off with a first round win over Marie Bouzkova but the bigger result came at the hands of Stosur, who shocked Angelique Kerber in her opener. Tough one to call here.

Danielle Collins v Yulia Putintseva Predictions & Preview

Danielle Collins will be up against Yulia Putintseva in what can best be described as a shock match-up. On the one hand, Collins shocked Elina Svitolina in her opener, while Putintseva, a qualifier, edged out Donna Vekic in her first round encounter.

And now they will be facing off for the second time in as many years with the first match having resulted in a Putintseva win because of a Collins retirement. Putintseva was leading 5-0 before Collins withdrew from the match.

Collins had a solid start to the previous season when she made it to the Australian Open and a third round at Wimbledon also helped push her ranking into the top 25. She started off 2020 with a victory over Yanina Wickmayer before Kerber retired from the final at Hawaii Open against her.

On the other hand Putintseva did reasonably well in 2019 and was ranked 32nd in the world coming into the qualifiers. She won three in a row to get to the main draw before her win over Vekic. This could lead to a tough humdinger, one that goes to the third set. Putintseva might scoop it though.

Barbora Strycova v Alison Riske Predictions & Preview

World number 19 Alison Riske of USA will be up against Barbora Strycova, ranked 31st in the world in the second round in Brisbane. And it would be the third time they will take on each other, with Strycova leading 2-0 in their head to head. The last time they faced off was in the 2017 French Open where Strycova crushed her opponent in straight sets.

Strycova was a shock winner over Johanna Konta in three sets in the first round, while Riske needed just two sets to get past Karolina Muchova in her opener. Riske, however has shown awesome recent form, finishing the previous season at 36-24 on win-loss record and with Strycova more focussed on doubles play, the American will be a favourite to win.

Tip: Riske to win: 4/7 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
