Nick Kyrgios v Cameron Norrie Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before, in the quarter-finals at Atlanta in 2018, when Kyrgios was forced to retire in the second set, with Norrie leading the match at that stage.

Kyrgios On His Best Behaviour in Australia

Kyrgios has had a fine time so far in Australia, curbing the worst excesses of his temperament, perhaps because he under probation by the ATP. He is also mindful of his wider responsibilities at a time of national crisis, something he has recognised with his pledge to donate AUS $200 for every ace that he serves in the tournament to the victims of the Australian bush fire.

He began his campaign with a straight sets win over the hard serving German, Jan Lennard Struff in straight sets, and  then, having sat out the tie, with Canada, returned for the match against Greece, where he played a mini-epic against Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece, winning a three set match, each of which went to tie-breaks,

And for once it was his opponent who made headlines for his on-court antics, striking his coach, and father, Apostolos, with his racquet, bruising his arm, and earning a telling-off from his mother who was court side.

Mixed Week in the Cup for Norrie So Far

World number 52 Norrie has had a mixed time in Australia so far, getting Britain off to a winning start on Friday by beating the Bulgarian number two, Dimitar Kuzmanov, a man ranked nearly two hundred places below him in the standings, in three sets.

However, he was then beaten easily in straight sets by the Belgian number two Steve Darcis, currently ranked 159 in the world. It was, therefore, imperative to both his own and his team’s hopes that he beat the Moldovan number two, Alexander Cobinov, in their group match on Tuesday, and he duly delivered, although Britain’s quarter-final place was only secured when Belgium beat Bulgaria later.

Nick Kyrgios v Cameron Norrie Predictions & Tips

This looks, on paper at least, like being an easy win for Kyrgios, in front of his home fans. The Australian has been showing the best side of his character this week, and, if he can harness his talent to the right attitude, should win easily.
