Nick Kyrgios v Roberto Bautista Agut Head to Head

This will only be the second time that Nick Kyrgios and Roberto Bautista Agut will be facing off with the Aussie having won their previous meeting. That came in in 2015 in Tokyo and was an easy win for Kyrgios but a lot has happened since then and one cannot be sure that result would have any bearing on this one.

Kyrgios Looking to Make it Four in Four

With Kyrgios having won all his three singles matches, and having shown remarkable restraint on the court, it looks like this could well be his and his country’s competition to lose. And with Rafael Nadal playing in the other match against Alex de Minaur, all hopes will be on Kyrgios to go the distance in this one.

Kyrgios has had a brilliant competition so far, winning against Jan-Lennard Struff, Cameron Norrie and most vitally against ATP Finals winner Stefanos Tsitsipas. That was a match that could have gone either way with all three sets going to tie-breakers. However, even as Tsitsipas imploded in that encounter, smashing his racquet and hitting his father by mistake, Kyrgios held his nerve and came through a winner.

What makes it even better for the Aussie is he was rested for the match against Canada and which should allow him to remain fresher than his opponent for this one. However, Bautista Agut’s performances this tournament will make him slightly wary…

Bautista Agut Yet to Drop a Set

It’s hard to believe while Rafael Nadal has already lost a match, it was Bautista Agut who helped Spain out of the mire and helped them make it to the semifinal. He’s played four singles matches and not just won each of them, but won in straight sets too.

Bautista Agut’s opponents haven’t been very high-ranked obviously since he is the second-highest ranked player in the team but having dropped just 14 games over four matches is sterling going.

That said, Bautista Agut is yet to face a player of the pedigree of Kyrgios, and while he did beat some excellent players last season like Karen Khachanov and Novak Djokovic, it would get difficult against the Aussie playing at home.

Nick Kyrgios v Roberto Bautista Agut Predictions & Tips

Kyrgios starts off a favourite in this one with bookmakers offering 1/2 for this win but we could see this one go into a third set. Kyrgios to triumph in a hard-fought three-setter here.
