Madison Keys v Daria Kasatkina Head to Head

Keys and Kasatkina have played six times on tour, and it is the American who has won in all six meetings against her Russian opponent.

Keys Primed For More Success in 2020

Madison Keys has made a blistering start to 2020, reaching the championship match at the Brisbane International and losing out to the defending champion Karolina Pliskova in a tight three-set match. It was perfect preparation for Melbourne – a city where Keys is a former semifinalist.

Keys has made three more trips to Melbourne Park since that semifinal appearance in 2015 as teenager, but she hasn’t hit those heights yet, losing in the fourth round twice and in the quarters in 2018.

Although the 24-year-old has cracked the top-10 before, she hasn’t been seeded this high at the Australian Open. She will be desperate to match her amazing 2019 season in which she won two trophies. Keys won her maiden title on clay in Charleston and reached the quarterfinals of the French Open. She also won the aforementioned title in Cincinnati – her first Premier 5 title and the biggest of her career.

Kasatkina Struggling for Improvement

Daria Kasatkina was touted as the best of the upcoming Russian female tennis players when she made a big breakthrough at the Indian Wells Masters in 2018. The 22-year-old lost out to fellow up-and-coming opponent Naomi Osaka in the finals in California two years ago.

Strangely enough, both players took very different itineraries at the conclusion of the championship match. Osaka would go on to become Grand Slam champion that same year, Kasatkina’s embryonic potential would disappear dramatically.

The Russian did reach two major quarterfinals in 2018, but her form waned at the closing stages of the season. And in 2019, she parted ways with longtime coach Philippe Dehaes and her ranking fell off a cliff – dropping as low as No.70 in the world (her current ranking).

Madison Keys v Daria Kasatkina Predictions & Tips

Kasatkina is on a downward spiral right now and it is hard to see her defy the form book and pull off a major upset. Keys has had a solid four weeks of pre-season training and followed it up with runner-up finish in Brisbane. There is only one result here.
