David Goffin v Vasek Pospisil Head to Head

This will be the second meeting both players. Their only meeting was at the Cincinnati Masters in 2013 where Goffin prevailed.

Back in Top 10, Goffin Looking For Consistency

Belgian David Goffin has had a roller coaster last two seasons.

He was ranked as high as number seven in the world in late 2017, where he was runner-up to Grigor Dimitrov at the ATP Tour Finals, having defeated Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the same tournament.

The next season and a bit saw a series of injuries, coupled with poor form and a drop to number 30 in the world rankings.

However, Goffin made a strong comeback in the latter half of 2019, where he was a finalist at the ATP 500 in Halle and at the ATP Masters 1000 in Cincinnati.  He was also a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon.

2020 got off to a good start for the Belgian, where he defeated Rafael Nadal at the ATP Cup. However, he will be disappointed with his third round loss to Andrey Rublev at the Australian Open after being up a set and a break.

Goffin has had some challenging opponents this week, of the likes of Alexander Bublik and Pierre-Hugues Herbert, but has come out strong and will be hopeful for a title run, after a long hiatus.

Vasek Pospisil was ranked as high as number 25 midway through the last decade, and had a strong singles and doubles career in the pipeline.

A flurry of injuries and poor recovery set him back a few years, and he has finally looked like making a comeback since the Fall of 2019.

Upsetting Next Gen star Karen Khachanov in the US Open was followed by a run to the final of the Davis Cup accompanying young Denis Shapovalov.

Pospisil has had another positive week where he defeated Shapovalov in a convincing manner and then was leading Richard Gasquet, before the Frenchman pulled out due to injury troubles.

David Goffin v Vasek Pospisil Predictions & Tips

Two players looking to put behind them any poor form and injury absence, and in turn recover to top gear, always makes for a good contest.

However, Goffin is much further along that path than his Canadian opponent and also evidenced how and why he belongs in the top ten players in the world.

Expect Goffin to win in straight sets with a good effort by his opponent too.

Tip: Goffin to win in straight sets: 5/2 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
