Andrey Rublev v Daniel Evans Head to Head

The players have met once in their careers, earlier this year at the Adelaide International quarter-finals. Rublev prevailed in three sets.

Another Season Semi For Rublev

After a year full of injuries,  Andrey Rublev returned to the tour in the latter part of 2019. The Russian performed well to win the Kremlin Cup, as well as register wins against the best on the tour such as Roger Federer, Stanislas Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem and others.

2020 got off to a perfect start for Rublev, who won the Qatar Open and Adelaide International in early-mid January.  He broke into the top 20 of the ATP rankings, and arrived in Melbourne for the Australian Open high on confidence.

A fourth round loss to Alexander Zverev made for a disappointing exit, and after a quarter-final loss to Krajinovic in Rotterdam, he has looked back in good touch this week in Dubai.

The Russian has thus far recorded straight set wins here in Dubai against Italian Lorenzo Musetti and Serb Filip Krajinovic.

Best Start Of Season For Evans

Dan Evans, who is currently the British number one, and ranked number 36 in the world, has had a positive last season and a bit.

Evans was ranked outside the top 500 in the world at the start of 2019.  However, a number of consistent performances in 2019, including being runner-up at the Delray Beach Open saw Evans move up the rankings gradually.

2020 started well for the Briton, with strong showings at the inaugural ATP Cup, with him leading Team Great Britain to being a couple points away from pulling off an upset against Australia in the quarter-finals.

Unfortunartely, Evans’ Australian Open run ended prematurely as he lost to Yoshihito Nishioka in the second round. The Briton continued his strong run at Rotterdam, where he pulled off victories against Phil Kohlschreiber and Karen Khachanov, before eventually being defeated by ultimate champion Gael Monfils in the quarter-finals.

Evans has had two tough matches this week at Dubai, but prevailed in deciders, against Fabio Fognini and Pierre-Hugues Herbert, with him defeating the latter 9-7 in the final set tiebreak.

Andrey Rublev v Daniel Evans Predictions & Tips

Both Rublev and Evans have been in good form this year and this will be a hard-fought battle.

The Russian has looked more convincing this week, while Evans has already been stretched in both his matches. Expect Rublev to win in a decider.
