Djokovic Looking Unstoppable

Four-time Dubai Open champion Novak Djokovic returned to Dubai for the first time since 2016, and has only dropped 11 games en route the semi-finals.

It has been a phenomenal start to 2020 for the Serb, who currently holds a 16-0 record, much in contrast to how the last season ended for him, after he won the Australian Open and Wimbledon early last year.

Recurring shoulder and elbow issues saw him pull out in the fourth round of the US Open, after being down two sets to love against Stan Wawrinka. This was followed by an exit in the quarter finals at the Beijing Masters, and Djokovic did not go past the group stages of the ATP Tour Finals, in turn losing the race for the year end world number one ranking to Rafa Nadal.

In 2020 thus far, Djokovic, has led Team Serbia to victory in the inaugural ATP Cup Down Under, and followed it with a record extending eighth Australian Open title defeating Dominic Thiem in a classic five-setter to win the final.

Djokovic has looked invincible thus far in Dubai, with very convincing wins against Malek Jaziri, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Karen Khachanov.

Acid Test For In-Form Monfils

After a strong 2019 that saw him return to the top 10 in the ATP rankings, it has been an excellent start to 2020 for Gael Monfils.

After making the round of 16 at the Australian Open, where he was defeated by runner-up Dominic Thiem, it has been a fantastic February for the Frenchman, who won back-to-back titles at Montpellier and Rotterdam and has looked in sublime touch.

Monfils arrived in Dubai high on confidence and has looked to continue the form from earlier in the month. The Frenchman has scored convincing wins against players of the caliber of Marton Fucsovics and Richard Gasquet, and will favor himself providing strong competition to the world number one Novak Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic v Gael Monfils Predictions & Tips

Both players have looked to be in very good form. However, this is a matchup that is heavily skewed in favor of Djokovic and has always been the case.

Given the surface, the form he is in, and the head-to-head, it looks difficult for anyone to stop Djokovic. Expect another straight sets win here for the world number one.
