A sea of charity and exhibition tennis tournaments will be played in the months of May, June and July across Europe as the sport looks to make a comeback of sorts despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
With all ATP and WTA tennis tournaments suspended till mid-July and more of the same expected to continue for the competitions in August as well, attention has turned to some of the exhibition tournaments which will be played to closed stadiums.
One of them is the Tennis Point Exhibition Series which is already two weeks old and will see a couple of more rounds of action over the next two weeks or so. Two more such tournaments have been added to the list, to be played in Austria and Czech Republic.

For example, Dominic Thiem will be in action at the Generali Pro Series tennis exhibition tournament which will be held in Austria from May 25. This competition will take place over a two-and-a-half week period.
Other Austrians who will take part in this tournament include the likes of Dennis Novak, Jurgen Melzer and Barbara Haas in the men’s and women’s draw. A total of 16 men’s players will be divided into four groups of four apiece and be involved in round-robin action with the top three to make it to the next round from each group.
These 12 players will then be divided into four groups of three and the top two make the final eight. These eight will follow the format of the ATP Finals from there on.

Another tournament, the Tipsport Charity Cup will be held in different parts of Czech Republic over a four-week period. This will be a team event led by Karolina Pliskova and Petra Kvitova. The duo will lead two teams who will go head to head in four tournaments of three days apiece.
Each of the team will have six players and four of them will be in action in any week. Each of the three days will see three singles and a doubles match and each player can play another player just once in that three-day period.
At the end of those three days, the team with more wins clinches the tie.
There could be one played in Germany too organised by the German tennis federation (DTB) with the tournament beginning on June 8. More information on this is still awaited but the likes of Dominik Koepfer, Peter Gojowczyk, Cedrik-Marcel Stebe, Jan-Lennard Struff, Anna-Lena Friedsam, Laura Siegemund and a few others are expected to participate.
