Jennifer Brady v Cici Bellis Head to Head
This is the second match between Brady and Bellis with the first having come at the Sydney International in 2018. Bellis had won that qualifying round match in straight sets to advance to the main draw where she won another round.

Brady’s title win at the Lexington Open the first ever in her career and while she was sent packing in the first round of the Cincinnati Open, she started off at the US Open as one of the players to watch out.
And her performance in the first round proved right those who had tipped her to be one for the future.
The 28th seeded American needed an hour and 16 minutes and fired five aces and 23 winners in her 6-3, 6-2 win over Anna Blinkova. The only Brady looked to be in any kind of trouble was at the start of the second set where she was broken by her opponent in the second game.
Down 0-2 at that stage, the American rallied back to win the next six games in a row to wrap up the match and seal her second round berth.

Bellis Clawing Back to Her Best
From the heights of being ranked 35th in the world, Bellis suffered injuries and had to be ruled out of most part of 2018 and 2019. Having undergone multiple surgeries to mend her issues, Bellis is now fit and back and has already improved her ranking from outside the top 300 to inside the top 200.
She did that by making it to the quarterfinals of the Lexington Open, which was the first tournament she played after the pandemic break and then coming through the qualifiers and entering the second round of the Cincinnati Open. At the latter, she lost to Aryna Sabalenka but not before she had managed to take a set off her opponent and pushed her to 7-5 in the final set.
Earlier in the year, Bellis started off slowly, losing to Jessica Pegula in the first round of Auckland Open and then going down in the second round at Hobart to Veronika Kudermetova. It was at the Australian Open she found her mojo, making it to the third round for the first time at the Australian Open.
Bellis fought off a challenging first set against Tamara Korpatsch, to win the match in three.
