Ons Jabeur v Zarina Diyas Head to Head

The pair have met three times on the tour so far. The Tunisian leads the tally with two wins against one. Jabeur won their first-ever meeting back in 2013 at the Kurume ITF as well as at Shenzhen ITF three years ago. The Kazakh player won in their only WTA Event match when she prevailed at Doha in 2015.

Jabeur On the Verge of Breaking Into the Top 30

The stature of the 26-year-old player from Tunisia on the tour is growing with each season. She broke into the top 100 rankings two years ago and followed it up with her first-ever WTA Final appearance at the Kremlin Cup in Russia.

At the start of this year, she made it to the last eight at the Australian Open where she was beaten by the eventual champion Sofia Kenin. She broke into the top 50 soon after whilst becoming the first player from her country as well as North African region to do so.

Her impressive form continued when she reached the last eight at the Qatar Open. She beat world number three Karolina Pliskova in the third round. The pandemic break came after that but her rhythm has not been affected due to the break. After the resumption, she has picked up where she left off at the start of the year.

She reached the last eight at Cincinnati and followed it up with a third-round appearance at the US Open. Although she did suffer a shock first-round exit on the hands of the American teenager, Cori Gauff at Rome but clay is a surface she has a good record on. Her best run at the Roland Garros was three years ago where she reached the third round.

She would be hoping to continue her great season and break into the top 30 when her campaign ends in Paris.

Diyas Has Lost Eight Out of Her Last Nine Matches

After starting the new season on a really impressive note, Diyas’ form has taken a massive dip. She won the Hong Kong ITF to begin the season and followed it up with a quarter-final run at Shenzhen. But her third-round loss at the Australian Open was the point where it all changed for worse.

Since then she has played nine matches whilst winning only one. And for someone who has a below-average record on the clay courts, it has been difficult for the 26-year-old to turn things around. She has already dropped to 76 in the world ranking and she needs to arrest this slide soon if she wants to avoid going out of the top 100.

Her best run at the French Open has been reaching the second round. She has achieved this on four occasions so far.

Ons Jabeur v Zarina Diyas Prediction and Tip

Barring a miracle, Jabeur should go through quite comfortably. Diyas is struggling for a form whereas Jabeur is eyeing a career-best ranking at the moment. It should be a straight forward win for the Tunisian.

Tip: Jabeur to win in straight sets: 4/6 (bet365)
