Rafa Nadal v Diego Schwartzman Head to Head
The players have met 10 times, with Nadal leading the head-to-head 9-1. They met at the French Open in 2018, where Schwartzman was up a set and a break and a rain delay provided some respite to the world number two, who came back to win in four sets.
They met at the Rome Masters two weeks before the French Open and Schwartzman won his first ever match against Nadal, also in straight sets.

Rafael Nadal is in yet another French Open semi-final and within striking distance now of a few records; Roger Federer’s 20 Grand Slam record, a record 13th French Open title, and a potential 100th win at Roland Garros, if he were to win the title here.
He may have had a difficult draw and he may have played opponents he is not too familiar with, but we are in the final four again, and effortlessly as is the case usually.
After early round matches that at times felt like intense hitting sessions, Nadal was up against somebody in the quarters, i.e. Jannik Sinner, who although only 19 years old was on a great run having defeated David Goffin and Alexander Zverev at the French Open this year already.
Sinner was up a break in both of the first two sets and had his chances, but the occasion may have got the better of him as he lost the edge both times and eventually lost straight sets after putting up a good fight against Nadal.
In the semi-finals again, although there has been a lot of talk about Paris in October vis a vis Paris in June and the sort, Nadal will know he needs to focus on the task in hand and potentially set himself up for an epic final against world number one Novak Djokovic on Sunday.

Reaching New Heights, Can Schwartzman Repeat Rome?
Clay is undoubtedly Schwartzman’s most preferred surface and an early loss at the Kitzbuhel Open immediately after the US Open did not quite seem par for the course.
The Argentine made a spectacular comeback in Rome reaching the final on the back of wins over Herbert Hurkacz, Rafael Nadal and Denis Shapovalov. While he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final, the result had done enough to boost his morale following the lows of the Kitzbuhel effort and he came to the French Open with increased confidence.
The Argentine was drawn against young Serbian and Kitzbuhel open winner Miomir Kecmanovic, where it was a solid performance by Schwartzman who prevailed dropping only four games in an aggressive display of shot making.
He then played Italian Lorenzo Giustino in the second round, also in straight sets to set up a third round meeting with Norbert Gombos, where after a shaky opening set which Schwartzman clinched in a tie-break, it was straight sets again.
When Schwartzman made quick work of Italian Lorenzo Sonego in the fourth round and set himself up for a quarter-final against US Open champion Dominic Thiem, murmurs of a potential Schwartzman win on form started making the rounds. It was an epic encounter between two good friends in what was a see-saw match, which went five hours and the Argentine came back from two sets to one down, to clinch it in five sets and make his first ever major final.
The Argentine will be looking to again bring his best game to the court on Friday and hoping for a repeat of the outcome of the Nadal match in Rome last month.
Nadal v Schwartzman Prediction and Tip
This promises to be an interesting match with the form Schwartzman is in and that the conditions may be favorable to his style of playing too. But, one does not bet against Rafa Nadal in a Roland Garros semi-final, no matter what time of the year it is.
After two days of recovery, Schwartman should we well placed to fight the ” King of Clay”, but Nadal will have too many tricks for him or anyone in a French Open final four match. Nadal to drop a set and win convincingly.
