Qualifier Harris Yet to Drop a Set

Qualifier Harris has played four matches in Antwerp so far this week, and he is yet to drop a set.

He had a comfortable win over Corentin Moutet of France, the world number 74 in the first round, and then showed he is a man in form by knocking-out the number seven seed, Taylor Fritz of the USA, on Thursday.

It was a tight match which only featured one break of serve. That came in the 11th game of the first set which Harris took. Fritz had break back points in the next game, but could not convert any of them, and Harris claimed the set 7 – 5.

The second set was equally tight, with both men earning break points which they could not convert.

That meant a tie-break and Fritz immediately dropped his serve. Two more dropped serves gave Harris match points and, although he squandered three of them, he made no mistake fourth time round.

Humbert Upsets Second Seed

Humbert began his campaign in Antwerp with a straightforward win over local wildcard Kimmer Coppejans of Belgium, the world 172.

That earned him a second-round match against the number two seed, Pablo Carreno-Busta of Spain, and he produced a fine performance to come from behind to beat the world number 15.

The Frenchman began well, breaking the Spaniard early, only to drop his own serve twice, allowing Carreno-Busta to take the first set.

The second set went with serve, until the eighth game when Humbert engineered a break of his own, which he consolidated to level the match.

It was a similar story in the third set, with Carreno-Busta saving three break points in the sixth game, only to surrender his serve two games later. Humbert took advantage and sealed the win with his third match point.

On paper, Humbert should hold an advantage here but Harris has shown the kind of sparkle in recent times which is a near-first for him. Can the Frenchman stall his opponent here?

Harris v Humbert Prediction and Tip

Despite the fact that Harris won their own previous meeting, that was in their junior days and has no bearing on the current match. Humbert is the higher ranked player and will be buoyed by his win over Carreno-Busta.

Tip:  Humbert to win: 5/6 (bet365)
