Korda Hoping For Promising Showing at Home

Sebastian Korda is the son of former major winner Petr Korda from erstwhile Czechoslovakia. Junior champion at the Australian Open, in 2018, he has also done well on the Challenger Tour, as he looks to break into the top 100 of the ATP rankings.

The young American surprised all with a strong run at the 2020 French Open, where he made the middle Sunday before losing to childhood idol and the ‘King of Clay’, Rafa Nadal in the round of 16.

Strong off the baseline with good groundstrokes on either front, Korda will be looking for a more consistent season and will hope to utilize his developing strong return game to the best of his ability on the slower hard courts of Delray Beach and get his season off to a positive start.

Kwon Aiming To Transcend ITF Success to ATP Tour

Korean Kwon Soon-woo has been successful on both the ATP Challenger and ITF tours. With an affinity for the outdoor hard courts, the Korean has done well to win five ITF Futures Titles and two ATP Challenger Finals.

Looking to move over to the main draw of the ATP tour, Kwon broke into the top 100 of the ATP rankings right before the pandemic hiatus in 2020 with four consecutive quarter final showings at the Maharashtra Open, Mexico Open, New York Open and here at Delray Beach.

Although his post pandemic showings were not as impressive, he did well to remain in the top 100 of the rankings in 2020. With a good record last year here at Delray Beach, the 23-year old will hope to put together a good run this year and no better place to get started than here, where he has the confidence after last season.

Korda v Kwon Prediction and Tip

An exciting and competitive match on the cards between two rising players, as it will all depend on who is better on the day, and is able to exude more confidence.

Expect Korda to be better suited to the conditions and push home advantage for a tight three set win.

Tip: Korda to win in three sets: 10/3 (bet365)
