Pablo Andujar v Pablo Cuevas Head to Head
This has been an old rivalry which hasn’t seen any action for a while now. Between 2007 and 2011, the two Pablos faced off five times with Cuevas having won three of those encounters. Four of these matches came on clay which were shared and the only match on hard court surface – at the 2011 Indian Wells Open – saw Cuevas win in straight sets.

Andujar Poor Form Continues
At the lower level, i.e. while playing Challengers, Andujar seems to have done most things right in recent times. For instance, in March 2020, he made it to the quarterfinal at the Monterrey Challenger, was a runnerup at the Prostejov Challenger, and then made it to the semifinal at the Iasi Challenger.
Unfortunately for Andujar, his woes have begun in recent times as soon as he’s taken that step up to the highest level.
Last season the Spaniard didn’t win two matches in a row in any of the 12 ATP tournaments he featured in. At the same time, Andujar was knocked out in the first round in eight of those competitions including all the three Grand Slams which were held.
And continuing with that form this season, Andujar fell to the grand old man of contemporary tennis, Ivo Karlovic, losing in three sets in the first round of the Delray Beach Open as well.

Form Concerns for Former World No. 19 Cuevas
It was in 2016 that Cuevas hit his career-best world number 19 on the rankings, and ended the following year at a respectable 32nd in the world. Since then, however, the Uruguayan hasn’t seen a lot go his way and form has generally deserted him.
A clay court specialist, Cuevas started 2020 with a 1-5 win-loss record, before finally showing bit of a turnaround as he entered back to back quarterfinals in Cordoba and Buenos Aires. A couple of first round defeats followed soon after before the tennis season came to a stop in 2020.
Following his return, Cuevas made it to the second round at both, the Hamburg Open and the French Open but back to back opening losses at Sardinia and Paris ended his season without much to rejoice.
He starts off against a player showing similar signs of form loss though, which could give him a chance to go toe to toe.
Andujar v Cuevas Prediction and Tip
There isn’t much to choose between these two players, which makes us believe it would be a tough fight between two out-of-form players looking to make the best of a rare chance to win an encounter. Three-setter looks likely.
