Polona Hercog v Daria Kasatkina Head to Head

The two have never faced each other in a competitive match before. This will be the first-ever encounter between the 30-year-old Slovenian and the 23-year-old Russian.

Hercog Comes Back Against Gasparyan

Hercog earned her first win of the tour after coming from a set down to beat Russian Margarita Gasparyan.

She’d come into the match as a 2/5 favorite but found herself a set down after failing to capitalize on two break points that came her way in the first set. Gasparyan, however, was clinical in that set. She converted both break points that she got to claim the first set 6-2.

A slow start in the second set seemed to signal that Hercog would suffer back to back first-round eliminations, especially after her Russian opponent broke her in the fourth game of the set to go 3-1 up.

Hercog, however, dug deep and fought back. She broke Gasparyan to reduce the deficit to 3-2 and used that momentum to win all the remaining games in that set.

In the third set, she was even more clinical. All she needed was a single break point, which she converted, giving her both the third set and the match.

Her reward for that win is another match against a Russian opponent in the second round, but one who is bound to give her an even tougher tie.

Kasatkina Dominates Buzarnescu

Kasatkina was untouchable in her first-round clash against Mihaela Buzarnescu.

She started strongly by breaking her Romanian opponent, only for Buzarnescu to break back immediately. That seemed to open the floodgates. Kasatkina won the next seven games in a row, including five in the first set to win it 6-1.

The second set told the same tale. Kasatkina got four break points and converted three of them, giving her a 75% break point conversion rate in that set. That helped her win the second set 6-1 again.

Additionally, she was clinical in her return, limiting Buzarnescu to only 31% and 33% of her first and second serve points respectively.

Hercog v Kasatkina Prediction and Tip

Despite being a seed in this tournament and having a higher ranking than Kasatkina, Hercog comes in as the underdog, priced at 13/8. This seems fitting for a player who’s struggled for consistency recently and one who also has a horrendous record on hard courts.

Kasatkina, despite being a clay-court specialist, is expected to exploit these weaknesses to her favor and should be strongly favored to win this tie.

Tip: Kasatkina to win: 4/9 (bet365)

  1. Thank you for a great site and valuable tips regarding betting on tennis. I am a client at Bet.co.za, Betway and World Sports Betting. Unfortunately our government (South Africa) has blocked all SA citizens to join foreign betting sites. This is a pity because Bet365 is by far the best. The only shortfall that I experience with them is that their player stats does not separate hard outdoor and -indoor stats but include all in one.

I would like to see your tips summarized as a separate page (per event) This will make it more easy for your clients to find. I am struggling to find your tips in your present layout.

All the best with your site, it is indeed a TENNIS SITE FOR THE FUTURE. Regards. Lourens de Beer
