Adrian Mannarino v Radu Albot Head to Head
Mannarino won their only matchup in Sofia last year, winning the quarterfinal 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.
Mannarino Eases Into Quarters
World No. 35 Adrian Mannarino began his Singapore Tennis Open campaign with a straight sets win over Italy’s Roberto Marcora in the Round of 16 on Thursday.
The left-handed Frenchman, who received a first-round bye in the competition, beat the 191st-ranked Italian 6-3, 7-5.
Seeded first in the tournament, the 32-year-old won 79% of his first serve points, saved all three break points he faced and converted three of 10 to dispatch the Italian in an hour and 44 minutes.
Mannarino, who won two matches in a row at the 2021 Australian Open for the second time in 12 main draw appearances, improved to 4-3 this year.
The Frenchman is aiming to add to his only career title he won at ’s-Hertogenbosch in 2019. He has featured in 10 tour finals but has finished runner-up on nine occasions.
Albot Holds Off Hanfmann Challenge
World No. 76 Radu Albot showed nerves of steel as he fended off multiple match points to beat Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann in the Round of 16 on Thursday.
The Moldovan, who needed three sets to beat Australia’s John Patrick Smith in the first round, saved three match points to down the 105th-ranked Hanfmann 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (9-7), 6-3.
Albot won 117 of 226 points in the match and converted four of 10 break points against three of nine by his opponent to win the grueling contest in two hours and 43 minutes.
On Tuesday, Albot had needed 90 minutes to beat the Aussie 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 in the first round.
