Camila Giorgi v Liudmila Samsonova Head to Head
The two ladies have met only once on the tour, in the 2019 WTA Limoges. Samsonova won that match 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

Samsonova started her run in the Miami Open as a qualifier, moving past Monica Niculescu and Varvara Gracheva in the qualifying rounds.
The 22-year-old last played in the Adelaide International, where she had a similar run in the qualifiers but fell to Petra Martic in round one. It was the same case in the Yarra Valley Classic and the Phillip Island Trophy too, as the Russian lost her first-round matches.
The Australian Open was an exception to this as she did reach the second round as a qualifier, only to lose to Garbine Muguruza.
Samsonova spent the last season in a determined effort to build a sustained, continuous presence on the WTA Tour. While the Russian did play in several tournaments, she never quite managed to move past the early round or the qualifiers. Events in Dubai, Doha, Prague, Rome, and New York serve as testimony to the same.
However, she did end the season on a positive note by reaching the final in the ITF $25,000 event in Reims, France.
Liudmila is still hunting for her maiden singles title on the WTA Tour.

Giorgi Hoping to Retain her Form from Lyon
Camila Giorgi last played in the Lyon Open where she reached the quarterfinal and lost to the Danish teenager Clara Tauson. While that third-round run in a WTA 250 event may not seem much here, it was certainly a lot for the Italian.
That tournament marked the first time since the Palermo Open last season that Giorgi has made it beyond the second round in a tournament. Between these two tournaments, the 29-year-old featured in the US Open, Prague Open, Italian Open, and the Australian Open but was defeated in the opening rounds.
As an 8-time WTA finalist (2 titles and 6 runner-ups), Giorgi has got some experience and pedigree to play well and win. What she lacks right now is consistency and that is something she should be able to build against the young Russian.
However, it will be easier said than done. Giorgi lost to the Polish teenager Iga Swiatek in the Australian Open; the week before, she had been beaten by the 22-year-old Sofia Kenin in the Yarra Valley Classic.
Giorgi v Samsonova Prediction and Tip
Samsonova should fancy her chances heading into this match. After all, she faces an opponent who isn’t entirely clinical at the moment. Meanwhile, Giorgi needs to be on the lookout for the fact that all of her losses this season have come at the hands of young players.
