Promising Munar With Impressive Results.

Jaume Munar warmed-up for this tournament by reaching the final of a Challenger event in Marbella last week and got well accustomed to the conditions and there has been no looking back since. Playing Swiss Henri Laaksonen in the opener he looked confident and beat the Swiss in straight sets.

That earned him  a second round match with the second seed, Fabio Fognini of Italy, and Munar pulled off a big surprise by beating the world number 18 in straight sets for the loss of just three games. The tone for the match was set right from the start as Fognini dropped his first two service games. He seized one of them back, but dropped his serve again straight way, and Munar was able to convert his third set point. The second set was even more one-sided as Fognini had serious problems with his serve and crashed out of the tournament after giving up three successive breaks.

It was a tough quarter-final against Belarusian Ilya Ivashka and after a close opening set, the man from Belarus clinched the breaker. But, Munar came back strong to clinch the match with a break of serve in each set. Ivashka had many opportunities to break back but the resolute Munar ensured he saw them all through.

Week Of Big Wins for Alcaraz

It has been quite an impressive short career thus far for young Carlos Alcarazy. At 16, he made his ATP main draw debut in Rio last year and stunned fellow countryman and 41st ranked Albert Ramos Vinolas in the opener. At 17, the Spaniard scored another massive win, this time at Melbourne, defeating top seed David Goffin in the second round.

Currently ranked 132nd in the world, Alcaraz has been very impressive at the start of the new season. The Spaniard defeated Slovakia’s Filip Horansky, Russia’s Evgeny Karlovskiy and Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien to qualify for the Australian Open, and went on to beat the Netherlands’ Botic Van de Zandschlup on his Grand Slam main draw debut. He was knocked out by Sweden’s Mikael Ymer in the Round of 64.

With a less than impressive showing at both Acapulco and Dubai, Alcaraz seems to have hit good form this week, first defeating veteran Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in three sets and then surprising all against fellow Next Gen clay court specialist Casper Ruud in the final eight 6-2,6-4 and looking in ominous form heading into the final four.

Munar v Alcaraz Prediction and Tip

Both players have been earmarked for great things and despite their young age have displayed immense maturity in the big wins they have pulled out this week. It will be a tight match and depends on who is better on the day, but Alcaraz looks in excellent touch and may just sneek out a win.

Tip: Alcaraz To Win In Three Sets: 3/1 (bet365)
