Carreno Busta Stretched to Final Set Tie-Breaker

Albert Ramos-Vinolas has been in some excellent at the start of this season and it didn’t come out as too much of a surprise that Carreno Busta was stretched to the limit in a bid to overcome his opponent and get to this final.

It didn’t start off looking like that though. Carreno Busta was quick off the blocks, breaking his opponent twice to to 5-0 up then claiming the set in a mere 33 minutes. It was in the second set that things began to turn around as Ramos-Vinolas gained serving confidence and then out of nowhere broke Carreno Busta in the fourth game.

Strangely, the only break-points Carreno Busta got all set came in the first game but once Ramos-Vinolas had saved them, there was no looking back him.

One set apiece, Carreno Busta was in early trouble yet again and with Ramos-Vinolas serving for the match at 5-4, he needed to dig deep. In that 10th game, the world number 15 got a chance to break back, and availed of it off the first point he got, pushed the set into a tie-breaker.

While he frittered away two match-points he pocketed the match off his third. He will now be gunning for his ATP title and second on clay.

Munar 22-5 Across Tours This Season

Munar’s played all his matches on clay this season and such has been his form, it isn’t that big a surprise he has managed to make it to the final here. He started off the season with back to back final appearances on the Challenger tour, winning one of them at Antalya, and then, as a qualifier in Buenos Aires, made it to the quarterfinal.

And in the lead-up to this competition in Marbella, he featured in another Challenger event at this venue itself, entering his third final of the season before losing to Gianluca Mager.

That, however, meant he had the momentum and wore his teenage opponent down in the semifinal, beating Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets to enter his maiden ATP final. He won 7-6 (4), 6-4, having earlier crushed Fabio Fognini in round two as well.

Can he overcome an in-from player ranked 80 places ahead of him in this final though?

Carreno Busta v Munar Prediction and Tip

The only reason Carreno Busta is a 4/9 favourite and not way shorter than that is because of the manner in which his opponent has played all season. Looking at a fighting match here.
