Gilles Simon v Pierre-Hugues Herbert Head to Head
This would be the third time, when Simon and Herbert will be meeting each other on the ATP.

Herbert’s Struggles Continue in 2021
Just like Simon, Pierre-Hugues Herbert have had a torrid time on the court in 2021. While, his win/loss record is slightly better than Simon, Herbert has experienced a similar fate in almost all the ATP events this year.
After a woeful hard court season, both in Australia and North America, the 78th-ranked Herbert suffered yet another heartbreaking and surprising loss in Monte Carlo, where he was beaten by the mercurial Australian Bernard Tomic in the first round.
The defeat to Tomic was indeed a shocker, considering the fact that the fiery Australian is not known to possess a game, which could create massive problems for his rivals on the red dirt. Moreover, Tomic doesn’t like the surface at all and over the years, he too has had his share of troubles on clay.
Undoubtedly, an unconfident Herbert is arriving in Estoril and if does reach the second round of the tournament, it would do a world of good to his confidence. But, it looks a big task at the moment.

Because of his experience and comfort level on clay, Simon is a slight favourite to win this match, probably in a tight three setter. However, Herbert could spring a surprise, if he is able to keep up the pressure on Simon throughout the encounter.
