Belinda Bencic v Ons Jabeur Head to Head

This will be the first ever time that Bencic and Jabeur will be facing off in a competitive encounter.

Bencic Stretched by Pera

It hasn’t been the best of recent times for Bencic and that looked to be the case for a while in her second round against Bernarda Pera. In the end, however, the world number 11 came through in three sets, winning, 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) to seal her third round place.

Bencic, who had overcome a tough challenge in first round from Kristina Mladenovic as well, needed two hours and 42 minutes to carve out her second round victory.

Needing to stave off 13 break-points, Bencic was broken three times in the first set, but her serving improved as the match went on. In the first, she got only 45% of her first serves in, which upped to 57% in the second before she finally got her serving rhythm and the figure bettered to 69% by the time it was the third set.

Bencic still faced seven break-points in the final set, saving all of them in the process and taking the match into a final set tie-breaker. It went neck in neck till 5-5 before Bencic won a point on her serve to get herself a match-point before breaking her opponent’s serve to finish off the encounter.

She now faces an in-form Jabeur in the third.

Jabeur Comes Back from a Set Down Too

Jabeur was a favourite going up against Sloane Stephens in her second round match but needed to come back from a set down to win it in three.

In a match that lasted nearly two hours, the two players exchanged six breaks of serves in the first set to take them to 4-4 before Jabeur failed to find her serve as she looked to stay in the set.

The Tunisian then stormed back to break twice early and pouch the second set, before warding off six break-points off her first two service games in the third set. Jabeur herself got three break-point opportunities she missed in the sixth game before converting the fourth, saved another on her serve before finishing off the encounter 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

While not quite very fond of clay, Jabeur has shown fighting qualities in this competition already which hold her in a good stead.

Bencic v Jabeur Prediction and Tip

In a lot of ways, this could be an interesting matchup given Bencic hasn’t been in the best nicks and Jabeur isn’t playing on her most favourite surface. The evenness of the contest make us believe we could see another three-setter.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
