Aryna Sabalenka v Cori Gauff Head to Head
There have been two previous matches played between these two players and the scoreline reads 1-1. Both came last year and on hard court surfaces with Gauff winning outdoors in Lexington and Sabalenka winning it indoors in Ostrava.

Such has been Sabalenka’s form all clay swing, it’s been difficult to take a set off her, let alone defeat her. Her only loss on clay, to go with 11 wins, came to Ash Barty in Stuttgart and she managed to gain sweet revenge with a sterling win in the final in Madrid.
Sabalenka has dropped just two sets in those 11 victories, once to Barty and another to Anett Kontaveit. And she continued to hold sway over her opponents, as she overcame a slightly slow start to crush the hopes of Sara Sorribes Tormo.
In a match lasting an hour and 35 minutes, Sabalenka needed eight games to get better of Sorribes Tormo’s serve but she was broken right back as she served for the set. Sabalenka raised her game when it mattered though as she broke her opponent at 5-6 to clinch the set.
And with the momentum achieved as well, Sabalenka first thwarted six break-points off her serve in the third game and then broke consecutively to clinch it 7-5, 6-1 and advance to round three.

Gauff Stuns Sakkari
It hasn’t been the greatest time recently for Maria Sakkari but she had come into this second round match against Cori Gauff valued at 1/3 to win it. And the American managed to get the better of her three rather strange sets, winning 6-1, 1-6, 6-1.
The match went on for an hour and 47 minutes, and it was Gauff’s higher first serve percentage and a further higher first serve points won that proved to be the difference between the two players. Futhermore, Gauff played the big points much better, getting herself 14 break-points and winning five of them.
In turn, Gauff was broken just three times.
Gauff had earlier needed three sets to get past Yulia Putintseva as well, making it her third successive three-setter. Can the American now put up a fight against one of the players of the season on the women’s tour?
Sabalenka v Gauff Prediction and Tip
While Sabalenka is 2/7 to win this, we could be looking at some sort of resistance from Gauff and that could make it an interesting match for some parts. A games handicap sounds like a decent option.
