Matteo Berrettini v Stefano Travaglia Head to Head

At the Challenger and Futures level, Travaglia has a 3-0 lead over Berrettini.

On the tour, they met just once, at the Rome Masters last year, with Berrettini winning in straight sets.

Berrettini Looking To Bring Solid Form to Grass

World No. 9 Matteo Berrettini heads to the Queen’s Club Championships with a solid 21-6 record this year. The Italian captured his fourth ATP title, by winning in Belgrade in April and then reached his first Masters 1000 final in May, finishing runner-up to Alexander Zverev in Madrid.

Seeded No. 1 at Queen’s, Berrettini has a 13-5 overall record on grass, which includes the title in Stuttgart in 2019 and a fourth-round finish at Wimbledon in only his second appearance in the tournament the same year.

The 25-year-old’s other three titles have come on clay, as he won in Gstaad in 2018, Budapest in 2019 and in Belgrade this year. He claimed the Serbian Open title by winning a dramatic three-set final against Russia’s Aslan Karatsev.

A semifinalist at the U.S. Open in 2019, Berrettini reached the quarterfinals of the French Open for the first time in his career this week after Roger Federer withdrew from the tournament. His challenge at Roland Garros ended with a defeat to Novak Djokovic in the last eight.

The Italian, who reached the fourth round of the Australian Open earlier this year, had his best showing at a Masters 1000 event in Madrid, where he defeated Fabio Fognini, Federico Delbonis, Christian Garin and Casper Ruud en route to the final, before losing to Zverev in a close three-setter.

Travaglia Comes to Queen’s In Poor Form

Facing Berrettini in the first round will be compatriot Stefanos Travaglia, who had the better of Berrettini in their three meetings at the lower level, played in 2015 and 2016. But Berrettini found more success at the highest level, while Travaglia is still waiting for an earth-shaking performances at the top level.

However, the 29-year-old did come very close to winning a first title on the tour, when he reached a maiden final at the Great Ocean Road Open earlier this year. The current World No. 78 defeated higher-ranked players in Sam Querrey, Alexander Bublik and Hubert Hurkacz in the earlier rounds and then ousted Brazil’s Thiago Monteiro in the semifinals before being defeated by Jannik Sinner in the final.

Travaglia had begun the season by reaching the quarterfinals in Antalya, which he lost to David Goffin.

But after the 7-2 start, the Italian lost form completely, winning just once in the next 11 matches.

Travaglia is 0-2 on grass and for him to get back to winning ways at Queen’s looks extremely unlikely.

Berrettini v Travaglia Prediction and Tip
