Vasek Pospisil v Marcos Giron Head to Head

The pair  have never met before. This will be the first match between the 30-year old Canadian, and the American, who is three years younger.

Pospisil Returning to Tennis after a Long Pause

Pospisil is a former Wimbledon doubles champion, having won the title in 2014 with Jack Sock. The following year, he reached the quarter-finals in the singles at the All-England club before eventually losing to Andy Murray.

That remains his best ever performance at a Grand Slam and he has lost in the first round in his last four appearances at Wimbledon.

However, he has played very little this year, and only won one match in Doha.

After suffering first ro0und defeats in Dubai and Miami, he chose to skip the European clay court season entirely, and this will be his first match form almost three months.

Qualifier Giron Hoping for Rare Grass Win

Giron is close to his highest ever world ranking, having been a  professional for seven years.

His career has yet to yield any senior singles titles, but he has been in 12 finals on the junior tours, winning eight of them, all of them on hard courts.

The American has little experience playing on grass, and, on his one previous visit to Wimbledon, he was beaten in the first round.

However, at the French Open he reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career, beating both Grigor Dimitrov and Guido Pella, before losing to Cristian Garin.

Giron was beaten in the first round in qualifying for Stuttgart, but has done better here in Halle, beating first Dominic Stephan Stricker of Switzerland and then Daniel Elahi Galan Riveros of Colombia, both in straight sets, to earn himself a place in the main draw.

Pospisil v Giron Prediction and Tip

This is a difficult match to call, between a man who has not played for almost three months, and an American qualifier with no known form on grass. Pospisil, because of his previous experience on the surface, may just have the slightest of edges but we will have to go with a three-setter here.
