Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina comes to Eastbourne with a 13-11 record in 2021. The season has nowhere been close to the one last year, when she reached a stunning five finals, but she will take a lot of confidence from her best ever Grand Slam showing at Roland Garros, where she made a maiden quarterfinal appearance.

Last year, the 22-year-old Kazakh, reached the finals in Shenzhen, Hobart, St. Petersburg, Dubai and Starsbourg, winning the title in Hobart by beating China’s Zhang Shuai but finishing runner-up in the other four.

A two-time WTA winner, Rybakina is yet to qualify for the main draw at Wimbledon, but she did look good on grass at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2019, reaching the semifinals as a qualifier, before falling to Kiki Bertens.

Rybakina began her 2021 season with a run to the quarterfinals in Abu Dhabi, but lost her form immediately after, making early exits from seven WTA tournaments, before finally hitting form at the French Open. She defeated Elsa Jacquemot, Nao Hibino, Elena Vesnina and Serena Williams in the first four rounds before falling to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the last eight.

The Kazakh played her first grass court tournament of the year in Berlin last week, winning her first round match against Shelby Rogers, but losing in the second round to Garbine Muguruza.

Dart 1-2 on Grass This Year

Facing Rybakina will be Britain’s Harriet Dart, who is 1-2 from two tournaments on grass this year.

Dart won her first round match in Nottingham against compatriot Emma Raducanu, but fell to America’s Lauren Davis in the second round despite taking the first set.

In Birmingham, the 24-year-old suffered a first-round defeat to France’s Caroline Garcia, but she didn’t go down without a fight, taking the former No. 4 to a deciding set before bowing out.

A four-time champion at the ITF level, Dart reached the third round at Wimbledon in 2019. She failed to go past the qualifiers at the Australian and French Opens this year and comes to Eastbourne with a 2-5 record in the main draws.

Her only other win this year year came against Heather Watson in the first round in Monterrey.

Rybakina v Dart Prediction and Tip
