Jessica Pegula has started her grass swing on a positive note with a quarterfinal appearance in the Berlin Grass Court Championships last week. Over there, the 27-year-old beat the Czech No. 1 Karolina Pliskova before falling to Victoria Azarenka in the quarters.
Pegula has had a pretty decent season as she currently enjoys her career-best singles ranking as World No. 26. The American has been quite consistent on the whole, starting the season with a quarterfinal appearance in the Australian Open and later, a semifinal feat in the Qatar Open.
The number three continued in the same vein in Dubai and Miami too – it is on the back of these consistent performances that she cracked the top 30. In the clay swing as well, she was fairly consistent. She made it to the third round in the French Open and Madrid Open, and had a final eight appearance in the Italian Open.
Pegula has grown remarkably as a player over the last couple of seasons and certainly looks quite determined to continue her great ascent on the WTA Tour.

Hesse Seeking Positive Results on WTA Tour
Currently ranked in the early 200s, Amandine Hesse has had a pretty uneventful season where she has kept herself tied to the ITF events. Her best run on that circuit came just last week in the ITF Spain 08A, where she beat Jessica Maneiro in the final to win her first ITF title in quite a long time.
Before that, the 28-year-old reached the semis and quarters in a few other ITF events but that didn’t do well for her rankings on the whole.
As for her run in WTA events, she has featured only in a handful of tournaments – notably the Lyon Open, WTA Abu Dhabi, the 125K Series event in Saint-Malo. In all three competitions, Hesse never made it past the first round/qualifiers.
Pegula v Hesse Prediction and Tip
Pegula ought to win this match in straight sets, considering her overall experience and pedigree on the tour. Hesse may tap into her recent winning run on the ITF circuit but that may not be enough to beat the American.
