Petra Kvitova v Ann Li Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Kvitova Survives Piter

World No. 12 Petra Kvitova faced some resistance in her opening match in the WTA Bad Homburg. Facing the Polish Katarzyna Piter, Kvitova dropped the first set before staging a comeback with 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Playing in her first WTA match since the ankle injury at the French Open (which forced her to retire in the second round), the Czech looked a bit rusty as she finds herself in a race to build some momentum on grass ahead of the SW19 campaign next week.

Kvitova’s season so far hasn’t been that consistent as she dropped out of the top 10 on the back of a lacklustre start. Following early-round exits in the Australian Open swing, she had her first breakthrough in the Qatar Open. Over there, she beat Garbine Muguruza in the final to win her 28th singles title and her first one this decade.

The 31-year-old has since reached the quarterfinal in the Madrid Open and the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, thus delivering her best run in the clay swing.

Li Looking Confident

20-year-old Ann Li cracked the top 100 with a final appearance in the Grampians Trophy earlier in the season. Since that final game against Anett Kontaveit was cancelled, the trophy was shared between the two players. Nonetheless, that was Li’s first significant WTA run of her career.

Post that stint in Melbourne, she reached the third round in the Australian Open and the semifinal in the Monterrey Open. She missed out on a majority of the clay swing, featuring just in the French Open. In that Paris Slam, she fell to Elina Svitolina in the second round.

Currently ranked World No. 70, Ann Li started her grass swing in Berlin last week where she fell in the qualifiers. Here in Bad Homburg, she has done well to overcome the German qualifier Anna Zaja 6-0, 6-4 to set up the Kvitova clash.

Kvitova v Li Prediction and Tip

Ann Li is a promising player but her opponent has been playing professional tennis since she was just nine years old. There is a huge gap in momentum and experience, something which should work out favourably for Kvitova.

Tip: Kvitova to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
