Ugo Humbert v Sam Querrey Head to Head
This will be a repeat from their meeting – the only one of their careers – last week when they faced off in Halle in the first round. Humbert needed three sets and two tie-breakers to edge past Querrey in that encounter.

In what has been only his second grass court season, Humbert has managed an 8-1 win-loss record so far and he looks like he could end the year with a lot more. The Frenchman, who had made the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2019 and then reached the Newport Open semifinal in 2019, looks to have taken off from where he had left that year.
Because after featuring in the quarterfinal at the Stuttgart Open to kick-start his grass court campaign, Humbert then went on to win the title at Halle, defeating Querrey, Alexander Zverev, Sebastian Korda, Felix Auger-Aliassime – who had beaten him in Stuttgart – and Andrey Rublev.
Those are some big-ticket players that Humbert had gotten past to lift his third ATP title but more vitally, he then opted to feature here at Mallorca just two days later and take down Miomir Kecmanovic.
Kecmanovic was fresher of the two players but while that showed in the opening set, once Humbert had found his rhythm it became difficult to pull past him. Humbert was pushed into the second set tie-breaker before winning in three to seal his second round berth.

Querrey Stretched by Carballes Baena
It wasn’t the neatest of wins but Querrey will take his opening round victory over Roberto Carballes Baena as he sealed his chance to avenge last week’s defeat at the hands of Humbert.
Querrey was a set down and was then unable to break his opponent’s serve for a long time in both the remaining sets before coming through in a difficult three-setter.
That match lasted for about two and a quarter hours, and saw Querrey break his opponent just once in the entire match before coming through 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (3) and moving to the next round.
The American earlier made it to the semifinal in Stuttgart but lost in his opener at Halle before winning this one. Can he avenge this defeat though?
Humbert v Querrey Prediction and Tip
There is a serious case for Humbert struggling with exhaustion. Having played five matches last week, Humbert will now playing his seventh match in nine days and that is bound to take some toll. Expecting Querrey to stall his run.
