Shelby Rogers v Camila Giorgi Head to Head
It’s 1-1 from their previous two meetings, but they haven’t met since 2014.
Giorgi won at Rock Hill in 2011 and Rogers won at Bad Gastein in 2014. Neither of those matches needed a third set.

Lucky loser Shelby Rogers of the U.S. dominated her first-round match against the Netherlands’ Kiki Bertens on Tuesday to move into the Round of 16 at the Eastbourne International.
A two-time major quarterfinalist, the World No. 47 broke her opponent five times in the match to win 6-1, 7-5 in an hour and 14 minutes. Bertens also had eight break points in the match, but Rogers saved six of them to dispatch the World No. 20.
A two-time finalist on the tour, Rogers doesn’t have a great grass record. She has made it to the third round at Wimbledon just once, in 2017, making first round exits on other three occasions.
She won her first qualifying round at Eastbourne against Caroline Garcia, defeating the Frenchwoman 7-5, 6-4 on Saturday. The 28-year-old, however, lost to compatriot Bernarda Pera 5-7, 6-0, 0-6 in the second qualifying round on Sunday, but made it to the main draw as a lucky loser.
The win improved Rogers to 16-12 in the main draws this season. She has featured in three quarterfinals this year and made it to the Round of 16 at the Australian Open for the first time.

Giorgi Stuns the Defending Champion
Italy’s Camila Giorgi shocked the reigning champion Karolina Pliskova in the first round at Eastbourne on Tuesday.
The World No. 75 fought back from a set down to beat the fifth seed 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in an hour and 40 minutes. It was the Italian’s second win against the World No. 10, having lost five of their previous six meetings.
A former World No. 26, Giorgi struck nine aces against Pliskova’s eight, won 75% first-serve points, saved eight of 11 break points and converted five of 14 to reach the second round or better at Eastbourne for the fourth time in her sixth main draw appearance. The Italian was a quarterfinalist in 2014 and reached the second rounds in 2015 and 2018.
This year, Giorgi came into the main draw through the qualifiers, defeating Magda Linette 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday and Ajla Tomljanovic 7-5, 6-3 on Sunday.
A two-time winner and six-time runner-up on the tour, Giorgi has a pretty good record on grass. She reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2018 and won the title at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2015.
After Tuesday’s win, the 29-year-old improved to 8-8 in 2021.
Rogers v Giorgi Prediction and Tip
While Giorgi has played some of her best tennis on grass, Rogers has struggled to win matches on the surface. This season too, Giorgi has a better record then her second-round opponent. She is 4-1, including qualifiers, while Rogers is 2-2, including qualifiers. Expect the Italian to win in straight sets and move into the quarterfinals.
