Denis Shapovalov v Karen Khachanov Head to Head

Their only meeting was in the 2019 Davis Cup semi-finals which Shapovalov won in a decider.

Clinical Shapovalov Win Against Agut

Denis Shapovalov had an easy pass to his first Round of 32 at Wimbledon after his second round opponent Pablo Andujar of Spain pulled out of the tournament with a rib injury.

The Canadian was on Center Court for the first time in his career in the round of 32 as he played Briton former world number one and two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray. It was a clinical performance by the Canadian prevailing in straight sets after a tight first set, with the former Wimbledon champion waning.

Playing Spanish veteran Roberto Bautista Agut in the fourth round, it was another impressive performance by Shapovalov against the 2019 Wimbledon semi-finalist, as he was up 6-1,6-3 in no time. A fight by Agut in the third set followed, but the Canadian prevailed 7-5, for a first ever spot in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

Khachanov Wins Epic Against Korda

Russian Next Gen Karen Khachanov was once ranked number eight in the world and after winning the Masters 1000 at the Paris Masters and being a French Open quarter-finalist in 2019, his level and consistency have dropped and he is ranked outside of the top 25 in the world now.

With a disappointing second round loss at the French Open, and early losses at Halle and Mallorca on the grass, the Russian came to the grass without much hope or belief.

Up against tricky opponents like Mackenzie McDonald and Egor Gerasimov, Khachanov was tested and prevailed doing wonders for his confidence. He played Frances Tiafoe who was coming off a big win against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the third round and won a convincing straight sets match.

In a tricky fourth round encounter against rising American star Sebastian Korda, Khachanov came back from a set down to win the next two sets 6-4,6-3 for a two sets to one lead. A great fourth set comeback by Korda ensured we were in a decider which saw twelve breaks of serve before the Russian made his second slam final winning 10-8 in the fifth.

Shapovalov v Khachanov Prediction and Tip

While both players striving for their first ever major semis, they have done well to get this far and will be motivated to get even further. However, Shapovalov has looked considerably sharper, and consumed much less time and energy to get to this stage. On the other hand, Khachanov will consider himself lucky to come out of the Korda match 10-8 in the fifth.

Expect a good contest, with Shapovalov to prevail in four sets.
