Reka Luka Jani v Elisabetta Cocciaretto Preview

Jani is currently the world number 186,although she was ranked as high as 147, at her peak nine years ago.

A clay court specialist, she has won 20 titles on that surface oi the ITF circuit, and appeared in a further 14 finals, although her most recent tournament success was on home soil in Baja two years ago. She has also enjoyed a great deal of success in doubles event in clay on the junior circuits, and has won two events this year, in Spain in May, and last month in Slovenia

This is a rare appearance for her in a senior WTA event, although she did make the third round in Belgrade after coming through qualifying.

20-year old Cocciaretto is now at a career high ranking of 112 in the world. The Italian has appeared in one senior singles final and another in doubles, both within a month of each other. Although she finished runner-up on both occasions, she has enjoyed success on the ITF tour, where she has won four clay court tournaments.

Her best result of the year to date came in Mexico in Guadalajara, where she came through qualifying to make the semi-finals, losing eventually to Eugenie Bouchard. She also qualified for the French Open for the first time, but was beaten in the first round y Ana Bogdan of Romania.

Jani v Cocciaretto Tip

Cocciaretto would appear to have the odds firmly stacked in her favour in this match, as she continues her steady rise up the world rankings. Jani will have home court advantage, but that is unlikely to be enough.

Panna Udvardy v Mayer Sherif Preview

Ranked 204th in the world currently, Udvardy made her main draw debut at this event four years ago in the doubles, partnered by Anna Blinkova of Russia.

She spends the majority of her time on the ITF circuit, where she has appeared in 11 finals, all but one of them on clay, the surface on which she has enjoyed six tournament successes.

She is a player in form, having reached four finals already in 2021, winning in Napes and Pelham, USA in May, and finishing runner-up in Cordoba ion Argentina, and the Hague just last week.

With Ons Jabeur acting as a trailblazer for Arab women in tennis, it was only a matter of time before others followed in her footsteps and Sherif, the top Egyptian, now has her sights firmly set on the world’s top 100.

Sherif completed her education in the USA and played on the college circuit there, helping to hone her experience and ability to compete regularly.

Last week she lost in the final of an ITF tournament in Montpellier, beaten by the Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina.

.Udvardy v Sherif Tip

Sherif has the greater experience and form, and that should be more than enough for her to progress.

Anna Kalinskaya v Anhelina Kalinina Preview

A winner as a junior of the Australian Open doubles in 2016, Kalinskaya has gone on to make three senior doubles finals, with partner Viktoria Kuzmova. She has not enjoyed the same degree of success in singles, although she does have seven ITF titles to her name, five of them in clay court events.

Ona little since then and is currently the world number 153.
