Krejcikova Continues her Imperious Run

World No. 13 Barbora Krejcikova dispatched her compatriot Katerina Siniakova in the Prague quarterfinal with 6-3, 6-0, to reach the semis. This will be her third semifinal in the last four tournaments on the WTA Tour.

The 25-year-old won back to back titles in the Strasbourg Open and French Open and followed it with a fourth-round appearance in Wimbledon. Including her straight-set victories this week over Ysaline Bonaventure and Isabella Shinikova, her tally now stands at 18-1 for this period.

Earlier in the year, Krejcikova was also the runner-up in WTA Dubai, losing to Garbine Muguruza in the final. Back then, she was ranking in the early 60s and for her to make a leap of almost 50 places in a matter of weeks is definitely an astonishing feat.

The Czech has also picked up a few trophies in the doubles disciple too this season, making it all the more evident why is the heavy favourite to win the Prague Open.

Wang Delivers her Best WTA Performance

Two-time Grand Slam junior doubles champion Xinyu Wang will be pleased with the way her campaign has gone so far in Prague.

The Chinese found herself playing in a relatively easy bracket with the opposing players more or less in the same ranking spectrum as her. In the opener, she beat the Swiss Leonie Kung and followed it with a three-set win over the lucky loser En-Shuo Liang.

In the quarterfinal, Wang defeated Grace Min 6-3, 6-3, to reach her first semifinal on the WTA Tour. Up until now, her best WTA performances have included second-round stints in the Miami Open and the St. Petersburg Trophy this year. The 19-year-old was also the runner-up in ITF Charlottesville.

That said, she still lacks experience – mainly from top-tier tournaments.

Krejcikova v Wang Prediction and Tip

Wang has managed to deliver some interesting results here but for her to beat Krejcikova is an almost impossible task, especially when we realize that she has been beaten by far less inferior players this year.

Expect the second-seeded player to win this match in straight sets and reach her fourth singles final on the tour in 2021.
