Filip Krajinovic v Laslo Djere Head to Head

The players have met twice on the tour with Krajinovic winning both in straight sets. While one of the victories came on the indoor hard courts at Basel in 2019, the other came on the clay courts of Hamburg incidentally the same year.

Krajinovic Comes Back To Win Against Tsitsipas

Filip Krajinovic’s record for the 2021 season was at 9-10 for the season coming in to Hamburg and he had lost three of his last four matches. Opening round losses at Madrid and Rome on the clay were followed by a straight sets second round defeat to John Isner at Roland Garros.  This was followed by a fourth consecutive opening round loss at Wimbledon to Nottingham Challenger winner Aussie Alex Bolt.

Playing German Daniel Altmaier who had just won a Challenger title, it was not going to be an easy opener here at Hamburg. The Serbian took the first set, but the German sneaked the second in a tiebreak going into the decider with the momentum.

The Serb won a tight three setter against German veteran Phillip Kohlschreiber to set up a final eight against top seed and French Open runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek was off to a great start breaking twice to go up 5-1 in the first set and despite being broken while serving it out, he closed at 6-3.

The tide changed quickly in the second as Krajinovic won the set 6-1 and went up an early break 2-1 in the third. It was hard to break the Serb thereafter as he continued to serve well and win the set 6-3 to secure a place in the final four.

Convincing Basilashvili win For Djere

It has been a mixed season for Serbian Laslo Djere as he made the finals of the Sardegna Open but then had a run of poor clay court tournaments before making the final eight at Geneva right before Roland Garros. A third round loss to Sascha Zverev followed at the French and he won two of the three matches he played on the grass at Queens’ Club and Wimbledon.

Djere started well here defeating Jan Lennard-Struff in the opener and then won another straight sets encounter against Brazilian Seyboth Wild.

Playing the 2019 winner Nikoloz Basilasvhili in the quarters, one expected the Georgian to be the strong favorite, but it was a very convincing 6-2,6-2 win for Djere as he makes the final four with plenty of confidence.

Krajinovic v Djere Prediction and Tip

Both players are coming off impressive quarter-final wins against Basilashvili and Tsitsipas respectively. However, Krajinovic’s experience will come in handy as he can be expected to prevail over his compatriot in three sets.
