Harmony Tan v Amina Anshba Preview

Tan, who made her main draw Grand Slam singles debut at the US Open in 2018, reached her all-time career high ranking in May of this year.

She has appeared in 15 finals on the ITF circuit, winning seven of them, most recently on home soil in Andrezieux-Boutheon in France.  Clay is her preferred surface, although she has enjoyed some success on hard courts as well.

In terms of the senior tour, her best result of the year was in Bogota in Aprille here she came through qualifying to reach the semi-finals, losing eventually to the Spaniard Maria Osorio-Serrano.

Tan reached the second round of the French Open for the frit time, but was beaten in the fist round of Lausanne by compatriot Fiona Ferro.

The Frenchwoman will be up against Amina Anshba, a 21-year-old Russian ranked 325th in the world. Anshba made it to the main draw despite losing her second qualifier to Ekaterina Gorgodze after a slew of pull-outs from the tournament.

Anshba made it to the quarterfinal in ITF Orlando on hard courts earlier this season but then switched over to her favourite clay court. Since then, a couple of quarterfinals and a semifinal on the ITF circuit have followed before her first qualification for the main draw here.

Expect Tan to put to bed this match in straight sets.

Jamie Loeb v Maryna Zanevska Preview

Ukrainian-born Zanevska is now a Belgian citizen, and, as a junior won the US Open doubles title back in 2009, and the French Open two years later..

A doubles specialist, she has reached four senior finals, most recently the Bucharest Open in 2018, but she has yet to appear on the winning side.

She spends the majority of time on the ITF tour, and she has already made two finals in 2021, finishing runner-up in Grenoble, but winning last month in Otocec, Slovenia.

As lucky losers go, Loeb would be one of those few who lost in the first of two rounds of qualification and still managed to get through to the main draw of the tournament – yep, there have been those many withdrawals from this tournament.

However, what that means is Zanevska, who herself received a special exempt into the main draw from the qualifiers, should not have a lot of difficulties in getting past her unprepared opponent, who well might have been preparing for her flight back home.

Loeb v Zanevska Tip

Zanevska to win in straight sets: 4/5 (bet365)
