Belinda Bencic v Martina Trevisan Head to Head

Belinda Bencic is off to a good start in the US Open as she defeated the Dutch Arantxa Rus 6-4, 6-4 in an hour and 30 minutes. Both players played a good match but it was the Swiss who was superior, having won 86% of her first service points and committing just 14 unforced errors.
It has been a remarkable year for the 24-year-old who not only reached her first singles final in over two years but also won the coveted Olympics Gold medal at Tokyo.
However, Bencic is still on the prowl to lift her first winner’s trophy since the 2019 Kremlin Cup. In the Adelaide International and German Open this season, the number 11 seed came quite close to it but fell respectively to Iga Swiatek and Liudmilla Samsonova in the final.
As for her preparations before heading to the Flushing Meadows, Bencic participated only in the Cincinnati Open where she lost in the quarterfinal to Jil Teichmann.
The last time she played here in New York (2019), she ended up reaching the semifinal. Given the bracket she is in, she looks primed to at least reach the quarters.

Trevisan Stuns Vandeweghe
Considering the fact that Martin Trevisan arrived in New York on the back of a three-match losing streak, not many would have pegged her to upset the local favourite Coco Vandeweghe in the opener.
And yet, that’s precisely what has happened. The 106th ranked Italian knocked out her American adversary 6-1, 7-5 although, Vandeweghe’s 38 unforced errors may have had a huge role to play in it.
With this second-round appearance in the US Open, Trevisan has already delivered her best result in the tournament and the season. Except for a handful of tournaments, the 27-year-old has been beaten right in the opening matches this season. She did reach the quarterfinal in a couple of WTA125 events in Bol and Belgrade but couldn’t make much out of it.
Bencic v Trevisan Prediction and Tip
Bencic shouldn’t face any difficulties in winning this match in straight sets. After all, she has had a much better year and given her pedigree, it is hard to imagine her succumb to Trevisan.
