Nearly Man Krajinovic

Krajinovic is one of the nearly men of the ATP tour, having been in four finals and lost them all, most recently in Hamburg in July, when he lost to the man who went on to claim the bronze medal at the Olympics later that month.

Somebody much happier on clay than other surfaces, he arguably did not give himself enough time to prepare for the American hard court season, which may explain why he lost in the first round in Cincinnati, and also the US Open.

Last week, he was seeded four at the Astana Open, but suffered another first round defeat, losing I straight sets to the Australian James Duckworth who went on to reach the final.

Bulgarian Wildcard Lazarov

It was at this event five years ago that he made his senior ATP debut when he received a wildcard and now he finds himself in the same situation again.

In the meantime, he has been playing Challenger and Future World Tour Tennis, and has made two finals in 2021, losing on clay in Skopje, North Macedonia in June, but beating Aleksandre Metreveli of Georgia to win the event in Telavi, a home event for Metreveli, also on clay.

The son of a former player, this will be q major step up for Lazarov, who has never beaten a man ranked in the top 100.

Krajinovic v Lazarov Prediction and Tip

Krajinovic may not be in good form presently, but it would still be an upset of major proportions if he were to lose to a man wholly unaccustomed to meeting a player of his calibre.
