Yulia Putintseva v Alison Van Uytvanck Head to Head

Putintseva has a perfect 4-0 record against the Belgian. Their most recent meeting was at the Australian Open this year with the Kazakh winning in three sets.

Putintseva Knocks Out Peterson

Yulia Putintseva moved into a fifth final of her career and a second this year as she knocked out Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson in the semifinal on Friday.

The World No. 47 needed an hour and 43 minutes for a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Both players held eight break points in the match with Putintseva converting five and saving six.

Putintseva had begun the tournament with a 6-1, 6-2 rout of Georgia’s Ekaterine Gorgodze. Continuing her dominance in the next round, she eliminated Belarus’ Vera Lapko 6-4,6 -4 before being tested by Russia’s Anastasia Gasanova in the quarterfinal. The Russian had forced the third set, but Putintseva eventually won the contest 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.

The 27-year-old, who improved the season record to 30-22 on Friday, will be looking to win her second title this year and a first on hard court.

In her only final this year, Putintseva defeated Anhelina Kalinina to claim the Budapest title, her second career title following her Nuremberg success in 2019.

Yet to win a title outside of clay, Putintseva has featured in two hard court finals in St. Petersburg in 2017 and Guangzhou 2018, but she lost both of them.

Van Uytvanck Marches Into a Fifth Career Final

Like Putintseva, Van Uytvanck, too, proceeded to a fifth career final breezing past Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian in the semifinal on Friday.

The Belgian, who struggled for most parts of the season, needed just and hour and 16 minutes to defeat the World No. 126, 6-3, 6-3.

The second seed has been in top form this week. She had an easy first-round outing against Zhibek Kulambayeva, defeating the Kazakh 6-3, 6-4, before having to battle past Germany’s Anna-Lena
Friedsam in the Round of 16. Putintseva defeated the German 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. She kept her winning run going in the quarterfinal, defeating Russia’s Varvara Gracheva 6-4, 6-4 and was equally impressive in the semifinal on Friday.

Van Uytvanck is 4-0 in finals, having won three on hard courts and one on carpet. She returns to a WTA final for the first time since winning the title in Tashkent in 2019 and will be hoping to keep her perfect record in finals intact.

Putintseva v Van Uytvanck Prediction and Tip

It’s an interesting final: Putintseva has never lost to Van Uytvanck and the Belgian has never lost a final. But home advantage will favour Putintseva in this contest. Expect the match to be a tough one with Putintseva winning the title.
