Alexei Popyrin v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head

In their three encounters (including the one from the Challenger circuit), Kecmanovic has emerged as the winner on all occasions.

Popyrin, Coming Off a Promising Run

22-year-old Alexei Popyrin is heading into this tournament, well-rested and ready to roll. His last competition was the US Open where the Aussie reached round three before succumbing to Daniel Evans. He did, however, move past Grigor Dimitrov in the previous round.

In the preceding tournaments, however, Popyrin’s form was less than eventful. For instance, in Atlanta, Washington, and Toronto, he fell in the opening round while in the Cincinnati Masters, he was beaten by Corentin Moutet in the qualifiers. In the Winston-Salem Open, however, he did reach the second round from the qualifiers but lost to Carlos Alcaraz.

Looking at his overall season, it is fair to say that Popyrin had a much better time in the first half of the year when he won the ATP Singapore Open (his first singles title), and later reached the third round in the Miami Open and Madrid Masters.

Kecmanovic, Shaking an Early-Round Loss in Sofia

Popyrin may not have had the best of the run of late but he can take some comfort from the fact that his opponent’s win-loss tally stands at 14-22.

22-year-old Miomir Kecmanovic, currently seeking his first singles title this season, has lost his opening-round matches in four of his last six competitions on the ATP Tour. In Sofia and Nur-Sultan, he reached the second round whereas, through New York, Cincinnati, Toronto, and Washington, the Serbian incurred his worst results of the year.

Just like Popyrin, he had too had a comparatively better time in the first half of the season. His best result there entail a quarterfinal appearance in ATP Melbourne and Serbia Open, and a semifinal run in ATP Buenos Aires.

Currently ranked World No. 63 – just eight places above Popyrin, he will be hopeful of a good start at the Indian Wells.

Popyrin v Kecmanovic Prediction and Tip

Popyrin has gotten a lot better since he last met Kecmanovic and will fancy his chances here. Expect three sets in the match with the Aussie likely to come out as the winner.
