Karen Khachanov v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head
World No. 29 Karen Khachanov has never faced off against Emil Ruusuvuori before this.

Having begun the year entrenched inside the world’s top 20. Karen Khachanov is hovering perilously close towards a top 30 exit. If it happens, it will be his lowest ranking since August 2018.
The Russian World No. 29 has lost a huge chunk of ranking points garnered during the second half of the 2019 season, most notably from his inability to reach the semifinals in Toronto and Beijing (which has not been played this year).
Khachanov failed to make up for that dramatic tumble at the US Open where he was beaten in the first round by Lloyd Harris, making it the second time in three seasons he was unable to scale the first hurdle at Flushing Meadows.
With just a few weeks of regular tennis to close out the season, Khachanov will look to post some strong results on the hard courts beginning at the Indian Wells tennis garden. He has plenty of good memories from the desert having played reached the quarterfinals on his last trip, losing in an epic against Rafael Nadal.

Ruusuvuori Recovers to Defeat Koepfer
In a first-round match that perhaps did not set the world alight, there was plenty of good tennis and a series of lapses in concentration between Emil Ruusuvuori and Dominik Koepfer on Court 9.
Both the Finn and the German accounted for seven double faults, and two aces apiece. But Ruusuvuori had better serving numbers; 65% first-serve points won and 54% second-serve points won. The 22-year-old Ruusuvuori lost the first set in a tiebreak which was one-way traffic in favor of Koepfer.
But he turned the match on its head, dropping a mere two games in the next two sets.
And in a dramatic third set in which Koepfer completely lost his way, Ruusuvuori broke the German lefty three times to complete his recovery from a set down, winning 6-7 6-2 6-0 in over two hours.
Khachanov v Ruusuvuori Prediction and Tip
It will be tough to imagine Ruusuvuori plotting a similar comeback should he be slow off the blocks against the power-hitting Khachanov. With all things considered, Khachanov should be able to overpower the Finn.
