America’s Amanada Anisimova is in stunning form at Indian Wells. After needing just 53 minutes to eliminate compatriot Katrina Scott in the first round, the World No. 81 needed an hour and 23 minutes to dump out the No. 30 seed Camila Giorgi on Saturday.

Anisimova, who didn’t face a single break point in her 6-1, 6-1 win over Scott, faced four break points against Giorgi but she saved half of them. She also held 14 break points against the Italian in the second round, converting six of them on her way to a 6-4, 6-1 victory.

This is the first time since the Canadian Open, and fourth time this year, that Anisimova has won the first two rounds. She fell in the second rounds of the Chicago Open, the U.S. Open and the Chicago Fall Classic.

With Saturday’s win, the 20-year-old is 18-15 for the season. Her best results in 2021 included visits to the quarterfinals in Parma and Hamburg.
