Kecmanovic Looking to Regain Form

It’s been a disappointing season so far for the 22-year-old, who is 14-23 for the season and 8-13 on hard courts. Kecmanovic’s recent form has been even more worrisome. Over the last 11 matches dating back to the Olympics, Kecmanovic has won just three matches and lost eight.

The Serb is currently on a two-match losing streak having lost to Gianluca Mager in the second round in Sofia and to Alexei Popyrin in the first round at Indian Wells.

Kecmanovic, who won the Kitzbuhel title last year, looked good at the start of the year, reaching the semifinals in Buenos Aires, the quarterfinals in Melbourne-1 and also the last eight in Belgrade, but has lost form since then and hasn’t won two matches in a row in the past 14 tournaments.

Kecmanovic made his tournament debut in the last edition in 2019, winning the first round but going down in the second. How far can he go this year?

Gerasimov Comes Through Qualifiers

World No. 105 Egor Gerasimov qualified for the main draw with a three-set win over Sweden’s Elias Ymer in the second qualifying round on Sunday.

The Belarusian served eight aces, converted four of five breaking chances and saved eight of 12 break points that he faced, to win the contest 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.

Seeded No. 1 in the qualifying rounds, Gerasimov had won the first qualifier 6-3, 6-4 against India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan.

A semifinalist in Montpellier this year, where he defeated Andy Murray in the first round, the Belarusian won two successive matches only one other time this season, when he reached the Round of 16 at Melbourne-2.

The 28-year-old is 15-21 for the season and was beaten in the first round in Indian Wells by Christopher Eubanks. He is 3-7 from his last 10 main draw matches and like Kecmanovic he too is searching for form.

Kecmanovic v Gerasimov Prediction and Tip

While Kecmanovic’s last three wins have come against players ranked below top 100, Gerasimov defeated No. 53 Benoit Paire in Nur Sultan and No. 68 Vasek Pospisil in Sofia. He has looked good in qualifying rounds as well and will be a difficult player to beat. Expect the Belarusian to defeat the higher-ranked Serb and set-up a second-round clash with the second seed Aslan Karatsev.

Tip: Gerasimov to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
