Karen Khachanov v John Millman Head to Head

Khachanov and Millman have been involved in just one career, head-to-head meeting till date. The pair in the last 16 of the outdoor, hard-court event in Auckland last year, with Millman prevailing in three sets.

Khachanov Hoping to Feed Off Home Support Against Millman

After a bruising loss in five sets against South African Lloyd Harris in the opening round of the US Open, Khachanov fared only marginally better at the Moselle Open, his next event, launching his campaign with a win over Frenchman Alexandre Muller but bowed out in the second round after losing to veteran German Peter Gojowczyk.

Taking another step forward from the Moselle Open, the 31st-ranked Khachanov finished in the last-16 at the Indian Wells Masters. But it was still nowhere near to where he had expected to be by the end of the tournament.

After two thumping wins over Finn Emil Ruusuvuori and Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, the Russian went down fighting to Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili in his next to bow out of the tournament.

Back in the comforts of home in the quest of redemption, Khachanov fed off the crowd to fight back from a set down to go past Australian James Duckworth in his Kremlin Cup opener.

The win saw him set up a quarter-final meeting with another Australian John Millman. Unlike Duckworth, against whom the Russian held a slender head-to-head lead going into his first-round clash, he lost his only previous head-to-head clash with Millman.

What’s more, the Aussie, in sight of only his second career title, demonstrated steely determination and spirit to reach the last-eight and will be a hard nut to crack for the Russian, even with the home crowd behind him.

Millman Will Be Wary Of Determined Khachanov

Bowing out in the second round at the Indian Wells Masters after losing to Italian Jannik Sinner, Millman arrived in Moscow determined to add some more scalps to his name in the quest of another Tour title.

To that end, he made the perfect start, fighting off a stiff challenge from Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi in the opening round to scrape home in three sets.

After bagging the opening set in a breeze in his next against Ukrainian Illya Marchenko, the Aussie let the momentum slip as his opponent fought back to win the second, taking the match to a decider.

However, the experienced campaigner that he is, Millman managed to find his focus and bearings in the deciding set to eventually get over the line in three sets.

The Aussie has to go past Khachanov to seal his passage to the semifinal. What will work to his advantage heading into the clash is that he won his only previous outing against the Russian.

However, the Russian will be playing before his home crowd and Millman has to ward off complacency and be at his best to get the right result.

Khachanov v Millman Prediction and Tip

While Khachanov is ahead of Millman in the rankings, the Aussie won their only head-to-head clash till date last year and has the form and the momentum to gun for a second straight career win over the Russian.
